Democracy Wins in Calradia!: A Mount & Blade: Warband Red Wars Mod AAR
We follow an adventurer who rose to become the President of the whole of Calradia beginning in the year 1923, where new forms of government have taken over. Fascism and Communism were two new ideologies that sprouted up, and ended with the killings of the kings of Calradia's old kingdoms. However, on a small island, there is a much smaller kingdom. This kingdom did not go through the rebellions which happened to the other larger kingdoms. This kingdom, known as the Kingdom of Helvetia, was the exception to the communist and fascist countries. There were many other countries, including the Swazi Reich, the Peoples' Republic of the Khergit, the Republic of the Nords, the Sarranid Islamic Confederation, The Rhodokian Nationalist Workers' Union, and the United Federation of the Vaegirs. The adventurer we follow is a Swadian young man, who did not believe in the fascistic government who took over his beloved country of Swadia. So, he set out to be a much better leader than the current leaders who have taken over, despite his father's protests, who became a popular, yet corrupt politician in the Reich. Going west, the hero found a country of democracy, the Confederate States of Balion. After travelling for many days, he finds the capital city of Balion is hours ahead, he rests, only to be awoken after he heard a sword being drawn. A bandit who was simply looking to pillage and murder again, is quickly dispatched by the hero's cunning skills learned from fighting in the Swadian military, some years ago.
After the bandit was dispatched, another man comes running up to the hero, and asks if he is okay, and brings him into his house, which was rather queer, until the man speaks, saying he will make a proposition to the hero. The proposition being that, if the hero is able to rally five men to take out a group of bandits who have kidnapped his brother, he will reward him. Our hero accepted, and soon goes towards the nearby village of Tall Trees, where 16 men volunteered to join him. He accepted the volunteers, and went back to New Yalen, where the man told the hero where the last known area of the kidnappers were. The hero then set out for the kidnappers and found them, and after a short skirmish, one was left alive, who told of their hideout, and the hero and his men set out for the hideout.
The hero and his army easily took out the bandits inside the hideout, only eight men, against his eight men, and found the brother, and let him free. After taking the hideout, he and his men went back to the merchant's house and the merchant thanked him, and asked him to help him out, since the city's spymaster allowed bandits and other riff-raff in, and the merchant wanted that to stop. The hero agreed, and went forward to lead the merchant's men against the bandits. After the battle was over and the dust had settled, the merchant's men won the day, and afterwards, the two men sat in the merchant's home where, the hero stated, 'Let everyone know the name Michal von Finne!' Michal von Finne was the hero's name.
After the meeting, Michal set out to accomplish what he wanted, to create a Republic in Calradia. Michal would, in the year 1930, create his dream, after many trials, many of those deadly. He still did it however, and the first place the creation of his dream brought him to, was the Kingdom of Helvetia, after rallying almost 100 men, he finally thought he was ready, and ready he was. In just 12 hours, the ladders were ready and the men were besieging the city of Treize. He led his men the same way he led in the Swadian military, from the front. He was spared from death, or being taken prisoner this time, and for most of his life, and was able to unite Calradia under one banner, and one name, the United States of Calradia. The banner was that of 13 black and red stripes and a black dragon in a white box on the left hand side of the flag. This flag would be the flag of the new country, the United States of Calradia.
During the initial siege of Treize, he took prisoner the King, Tsar Puchin, and his only vassal, Lord Puschkin. Afterwards, the Tsar surrendered his kingdom to him, and was ousted to another country elsewhere. Now Michal von Finne had his own fiefs and country he could name. What he called the small and newborn country was 'New Swadia.' This would possibly anger Furher Kampfstein, but he did not care. He had his own area. His dream was just beginning, but it was more than any other adventurer's dreams were accomplished. His next mission was to find a wife, preferably from the Swazi Reich, or even the Republic of the Nords. He would not set foot in the Sarranid desert, until the time was right. He would not set foot in the Khergit steppes until the time was right too.
So, he set out towards the city of Dhirim, where an old friend of his father's lived, Haupsturmfurher von Praven, to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage, Lady Tibal. When he arrived, he found the Haupsturmfurher, and asked what it would take to cement an alliance with his house. The general replied, 'You could be considered as a potential groom for my daughter, but as you know, I am a man of principle, and I should get to know you first.' Michal replied by asking what work he needed done, to he replied that there were a few jobs he could do. Such as collecting taxes from a village he owned, or killing a worm who murdered one of his men, or even training a few men of his. Michal did all of the jobs, and after he was finished, returned to Dhirim. He asked the Haupsturmfurher again for his daughter's hand in marriage, and this time, the general seemed more enthusiastic at Michal's proposal. The Haupsturmfurher agreed, and told the young man to visit his daughter. Michal did, and the young Lady Tibal and he hit it off rather nicely. It was known that the maiden was his crush for a rather long while, and he was not afraid to tell others. So, after meeting with the maiden and learning that she has a suitor, he was prepared to duel. However, he did not know the suitor's name as she wouldn't give him the name. After he would get a wife, the first portion of his quest would be complete.
Turkish game developer TaleWorld’s 2012 masterpiece Mount & Blade: Warband drew a lot of attention from the gamers, especially from the RPG fans. The singleplayer threw players in a vast, open-ended world with plenty of options but that wasn’t what made Warband stay alive for 8 years.
Considering the fact that from a technical standpoint, Warband was outdated even when it came out, the game should have been dead years ago. The graphics are 15 years old and the sound design is not too shabby either. But what kept this game alive were 2 things: an amazing gameplay with an easy-to-learn-but-extremely-hard-to-master combat and the huge modding community. Ever since the game was launched, developers welcomed the modding community and the game was open to all kinds of modifications and this gave way to thousands of different mods. And if you are still one of those people that play Warband regularly, we have compiled a list of the best Mount & Blade: Warband mods for you to change things up.
12 Mount and Blade Warband Best Mods
We have also added download links of all mount and blade Warband mods below there description.
1. The Last Days of the Third Age
One of the best total conversion mods that was created for the original Mount & Blade was conversed to be able to run on Warband. As you can understand from the title, this mod lets you play the events of the Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels. All the factions of the Middle Earth are available for you to play as and there are many fun side activities. There are different races with different bonuses/penalties and all of the gear and items reflect the Middle-Earth. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, this mod alone is worth buying Warband for.

2. Decapitate and Dismember
Mount & Blade: Warband has one of the most simple-looking yet really hard to master combat systems. The directional attacks and blocks make each encounter a test of reflexes and guess. During all that, landing a perfect slice to your enemy’s neck feels extremely satisfying, but what if told you that it can get better? As its name suggests, Decapitate and Dismember mod lets you decapitate and dismember your enemies and watch their heads and limbs fly off.

3. Bear Force 2
If you do not own the original Mount & Blade and therefore cannot play the brilliant Star Wars mod that is Star Wars Conquest, Bear Force II is probably the best Star Wars total conversion mod for Warband. It is a multiplayer only tactical shooter taking place in the Star Wars Universe. It has 6 factions with each having multiple different classes and a unique shooting and force system. From normal infantryman to jet troopers to using force with Sith/Jedis, there is a lot of detailed, fun content here for Star Wars fans.

4. Full Invasion 2
If you ever feel lonely in the vast world of Warband, Full Invasion 2 can spice things up with its co-op survival formula. You can team up with other players and battle countless waves of invaders and bosses to survive as long as possible. There are various different maps, classes, enemy types and bosses. As it is one of the most fun mods to play with your friends, it is no surprise that it has been rated by the community numerous times as the most popular multiplayer mod.

5. Blood and Steel
Blood and Steel is like a semi-total conversion mod; it changes a lot from the vanilla game but does not create a whole new universe/story. It rebalances a lot of the mechanics, improves visuals and effects, a new economy and adds hundreds of new items. If you have played the vanilla singleplayer and got bored from it, this mod is a nice change of pace.

6. H.O.T.D.
If you are bored from the classic medieval style of the vanilla game or all the other mods and just want to try something entirely different, H.O.T.D. (short for Highschool of the Dead) is probably the craziest Mount & Blade: Warband out there. You are thrown into a Japan that is infested with zombies and you try to survive with various weapons, characters and enemies. There are 4 factions: high schoolers, police, the Takagi mob family and the zombies themselves. It is not without its problems but if you want to turn Warband into something crazy and unrecognizable, this mod takes the cake.

7. Gekokujo
If you like Japanese history or anything samurai-related, this Warband mod is for you since it takes the game’s singleplayer into the Sengoku period of Japan. Just like the vanilla game, you will start from nothing and attempt to gain control of the entire country. The mod itself contains more content than the native game: 32 towns, 72 castles, and 161 villages. Of course, entire weapon, armor and item inventory is changed to fit the theme of the era and there a whopping number of 20 factions.

8. Warsword Conquest
Right now you may be asking “Is there a fantasy world that isn’t modded into Mount & Blade?” and the answer to that is probably no. Warsword Conquest is a total conversion mod for Mount & Blade: Warband that takes us into the world of Warhammer. There are races from the books such as orcs, dwarves, elves, vampires, Skaven and Lizardmen and you can play as any one of these. Of course, just like any total conversion mod, there are new weapons, armor and items. If you own Warband and like Warhammer, it is a no-brainer.

9. A World of Ice and Fire
Another great total conversion mod for Warband that is featuring another awesome fantasy world, A World of Ice and Fire takes us to the world of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones. You create your own house and challenge the Seven Kingdoms and try to claim the Iron Throne by battling and betraying your opponents. The mod is complete as it stands today and it was last updated in this June. There are a plethora of new armor sets, weapons and items and the entire map is changed to fit the Game of Thrones universe. For the fans of series, this mod is a must-try.

10. Prophesy of PendorMount And Blade Warband Red Wars Update
Unlike most of the mods we listed here, Prophesy of Pendor does not take you into a well-known fantasy universe, it rather creates its own and does a quite good job at that. It tries to find a sweet spot between the generic medieval theme of the native game and the fantasy-fiction themes with a low fantasy setting. You play as a hero with an aim of uniting the lords of Pendor under a single Ruler again. Now, as the developers said, “Prepare to enter the world of Pendor and accept the challenge of the Prophesy – if you dare.”.

11. 1776 American Revolution
Just like its name suggests, 1776 American Revolution takes us back into the times of American revolution. You do not have to fight for rebels; you can side with Britain to even join the Native Americans that see both rebels and Britain as the same. Of course, every single item is replaced to fit the era with the guns are being the most significant change and the original map is replaced by a piece of North America. If you wanted more from the Mount & Blade standalone DLC Napoleonic Wars, this is the mod for you.

12. Floris Mod Pack
If you were looking for more gameplay-changing or bug-fixing mods rather than total conversion mods, we were saving this one for the last since it combines a lot of great small Warband mods together. This mod pack enhances native gameplay by combining a wide range of mods provided by the Warband community. Additionally to the new troop trees, it offers improvements in gameplay, graphics and many other areas. It has 3 different levels: basic, gameplay, and expanded versions and you can choose among them depending on how much of a change you want. This is the best mount and blade warband graphics mod.

So a while ago I discovered this magnificent mod. From what I read, it was abandoned and made open-source since when it reached its version 1.6. However, the devs left it open for another team to pick it up, to give them access to the ModDB page. If you check it now, it's progressed to 1.9, which seems to indicate that it's been picked up by a new team. However, when I tried it, it was unplayably broken, with errors and glitches abounding everywhere. I.E.: one cannot fight battles, because two seconds after they begin, one is teleported to some glitch area with a nurse. I've seen videos of the mod functioning correctly, so.. is it because Mount & Blade updated to 1.172 and broke it? EDIT: While this current version still seems to be in limbo, it appears the mod is also in a state of crisis between developers. Just putting this out there in case any modders wish to help. See the ModDB page, LorDric and Reus.

Mount & Blade: Warband is the stand-alone expansion pack to the action role-playingvideo gameMount & Blade. Announced in January 2009, the game was developed by the Turkish company TaleWorlds Entertainment and was published by Paradox Interactive on March 30, 2010.[4][5] The game is available as a direct download from the TaleWorlds website, through the Steam digital distribution software, as a DRM-free version from GOG.com, or as a DVD with required online activation. The macOS and Linux versions were released on July 10, 2014 through Steam.[6]
Warband expands on the original game by introducing a sixth faction (The Sarranid Sultanate), increasing political options, adding the ability for the player to start their own faction, and incorporating multiplayer modes. Reviews of the game were generally favourable, with the addition of multiplayer praised.[7] The game places a focus on the horse-mounted combat and giving orders to one's warband in the field, such as telling archers to hold a position or infantry to use blunt weapons.
As of January 31, 2014, Paradox Interactive is no longer the publisher for Warband and has given publishing back to the developer.[8]
Warband was released for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in September 2016 for most regions, with an Australian and New Zealand release on December 20, 2016. Age of empires 3 download.

Gameplay[edit]
The main changes to the game were the inclusion of multiplayer capability, the introduction of a sixth faction, Sarranid Sultanate, and the reorganisation of the overworld map.[9] The introduction of political options allows players to influence lords and marry ladies, and it is possible for an unaligned player to capture a town or castle and start their own faction.[9] The game contains slightly improved graphics, along with new or altered animations in combat.[10]
Multiplayer[edit]Mount And Blade War Band Mods
The new multiplayer mode removes all of the RPG and map elements from the single-player mode, instead focusing on direct combat.[10] Multiplayer matches cater for up to 200 players, split into two teams based on the factions selected.[9] All players are provided with a balanced 'template' character (which can be altered for each server) based on three general types of pre-modern age military: Archery, Cavalry, and Infantry.[9] Characters are customised by purchasing the equipment available to their selected faction, with better equipment purchased after earning denars (the game's currency) in the multiplayer matches.[10] There is no link between a player's multiplayer and single-player characters, and no way to level up the multiplayer character or alter its characteristics from the templates (other than through the purchase of equipment).[11]Eight multiplayer modes were included in the original release of Warband.[11] Most were similar to modes found in first-person shooter games (such as team battles and capture the flag), although other modes, like the castle sieges from the main game, are also included. Some Modifications provide extra game modes. The combat itself various on class. Melee combat consists of four directions of attack that are up, down, left, right, as well as four directions of blocking being that same as attacks. Some melee weapons can only be used in two attack directions which are up and down while some can't block such as certain knives not obtainable from the equipment menu.[11]
Downloadable content[edit]Napoleonic Wars[edit]
Napoleonic Wars is a multiplayer-focused (some single-player aspects), DLC developed by Flying Squirrel Entertainment for Mount & Blade: Warband, set during the last years of the Napoleonic Wars. It features historical battles from the Napoleonic era of up to 200 players with over 220 unique historical units, controllable artillery pieces, destructible environments and six selectable nations: France, Britain, Prussia, Austria, Russia and the Rheinbund (the latter added in the 1.2 patch). The DLC was released on April 19, 2012.
The multiplayer revolves around game modes such as team deathmatch, deathmatch, siege, capture the flag, duel, battle, and commander battle. There are also community-organized events that pit player-created 'regiments' against one another in first-generation warfare, which attempt to emulate the realistic conditions of Napoleonic warfare. Most of these regiments are based on actual regiments from the Napoleonic Wars. The regiments work together to create organized events, such as line-battles and sieges. Most events are casual, but there are community competitive leagues that hold tournaments between the regiments.

My channel logos xl. Flying Squirrel Entertainment had help from the developers of the previous multiplayer mod 'Mount and Musket', also set during the Napoleonic Wars. Since the release of the game it has been patched several times, adding more content to the game: sailors and marines as well as usable schooners and longboats, and medics.
Napoleonic Wars received 'favorable' reviews according to the review aggregation website Metacritic.[12]
Viking Conquest[edit]
Viking Conquest is a DLC for both singleplayer and multiplayer. It is developed by TaleWorlds Entertainment and Brytenwalda team which is famous for their eponymous mod. Viking Conquest takes place during the Dark Ages and allows the player to explore the British Isles, Frisia and Scandinavia. It features a story mode where the game is based on history and the player's choice affects the outcome, and a sandbox mode which is similar to Mount and Blade's original game in which the player is free to roam around, this includes where you can make your own character and play regularly or make a character that is a King of his own Kingdom. First gameplay footage from TaleWorlds showed new naval combat where the player will fight on ships and boats. It was released to the public on December 11, 2014, and received 'average' reviews according to Metacritic.[13]
A 'Reforged Edition', which promised to improve many aspects of the game, was released on July 24, 2015.[14]
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One port[edit]
A console port was announced in 2016 for a 16 September 2016 release, to be published in Europe by Ravenscourt.[3] The port was to have no major upgrades on the original, and lack the Viking Conquest and Napoleonic Wars expansions. Modding is not supported in the ported versions. A digital release for North America was also scheduled for September 16, 2016.[15]
Reception[edit]
The PC version of Warband received 'generally favorable reviews', while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions received 'mixed or average reviews', according to Metacritic.[26][27][28] On digital distribution platform Steam, the PC version received an overwhelmingly positive rating of over 97% by players. Like its predecessor, Warband was praised as a low-cost game with greater replayability and longevity than most contemporary studio-published games.[11] However, several felt that describing Warband as a sequel was overreaching, and that the game is better described as a 'stand-alone expansion' or an improved version of the original Mount & Blade.[9][29]
The feature most praised was the inclusion of multiplayer, with ComputerGames.ro describing it as 'exactly what its predecessor was missing',[10] while Nick Kolan of IGN stating that the feature is 'arguably the main reason for the expansion's existence.'[11]Mod DB awarded it the 'Editor's Choice: Best Multiplayer Indie Game of 2010' award.[30] Reviewers noted the small number of multiplayer maps and modes, and the imbalance present in several of these, although the ComputerGames.ro review suggested that the producers' acceptive stance towards modding would see these problems rectified.[10][11] Kolan emphasised the friendlier community attitude compared to other multiplayer games, although Alex Yue of Gamer Limit and Christopher Rick of Gamers Daily News found that there would only be a small number of servers running at any time, and these would not always be fully populated with the possible 64 players.[11][29][31] Yue also believed that people who owned the original Mount & Blade and were uninterested in the multiplayer feature would be better not purchasing Warband, as it was the only new addition of worth.[29]
Several reviews found that the graphics, while an improvement over the original, did not compare well with other games.[7] The IGN review claims 'it looks like [Warband] was released a decade ago'.[11] Brett Todd of GameSpot commented that there were some 'picturesque' scenes amongst all the generally 'dated visuals',[7] while Rick dismissed the need for high-quality graphics, as he felt the quality of gameplay was more important.[31]
Todd commented negatively on the lack of development for the single-player mode, claiming that although the new faction and political quests were added to the original, the game lacks the depth and background of other role-playing video games, and the open world and steep learning curve may intimidate some players.[7]
